All about Fifa 10

Its that time of year again! Where our minds turn to the next installment of your favourite football video game – Fifa. After listening to some of the feedback they have had on the Fifa forums, EA have made critical gameplay improvements and refinements revolving around what the fifa community wants, by re-writing there gameplay engine, this will give better all round general play for the newest fifa arrival. All adding up to create the best Fifa game so far!

Key improvements, new features and definitive refinements!

Many new features have also been and are being worked on. Such as 360* dribbling; this allows for much better movement with the ball, allowing attackers to squeeze through gaps in-between defenders, and find space that wasn’t before possible. To counter this, EA have had to improve the defending of the players. They have vastly improved tackles, giving defenders a larger range in which they can reach the ball, also jockeying has been improved. Giving defenders better intelligence, and increasing the chance of intercepting the ball. EA have also worked on how realistic tackling is with momentum being considered. So if a defender dives in for a tackle in one direction, they find it much more physically challenging to get revert direction quickly.

Also after being disappointed with the Fifa 09 Management Mode experience, EA have spent time improving many aspects of the mode. Approximately 50 major improvements overall in the mode such as: match realism; authenticity of transfers; and player growth, giving more realistic player developments.

Something that lacked elaborate features in Fifa 09, was the Practice Arena. In Fifa 10 this has also been greatly improved upon, which now includes the ability to create set pieces, practice free-kicks and more.

Bug-fixing was of course another high priority for EA in the development of Fifa 10. For example, no more over-hitting lofted through balls, and an increased difficulty in scoring directly from kick off – Which EA did state they did not anticipate when developing 09.
They have also made it so that when a player is under pressure, through balls will be less accurate. Adding to the realism of the game.
Man-to-man marking has also been improved upon. Where each player will have a direct opposite that will mark them throughout the match – now including during dead-ball situations.

Offsides – Players runs will now be much more curved, preventing players from being caught offside so often. Offsides will also be called earlier, to eliminate any confusion and frustration.

Goalkeepers have been massively improved, where they will now be more aggressive and versatile. They will also now be much more accurate when rushing.

A select few lucky players from around the globe were invited to the Emirates Stadium to experience the game first-hand whilst it was still in development. The general feedback received was brilliant, and bare in mind, this was many months before the game had been finalised.

With that in mind, EA are reluctant to announce all new features, but say there are many more exciting things to look forward to. So it looks like we’ll be in for an amazing and best-yet installment of Fifa come October.
